AEW brought their Grand Slam event to Arthur Ashe Stadium once again this week. This yearly event had some worried that the turnout would be less than stellar, but AEW was able to pull off over 11k fans after all.

According to WrestleTix, AEW Grand Slam had a lot of work to do yesterday before the big show. They had over 2,500 tickets left for Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Arthur Ashe Stadium, Flushing, NY

Available Tickets => 2,540
Current Setup => 11,311
Tickets Distributed => 8,771 (+545 since yesterday’s update)

WrestleTix provided an update after the AEW Grand Slam event started. The updated number was 11,263 tickets distributed. It was also noted that, “This is believed to be one of the best walk-ups in company history. I’d estimate the paid figure to be in the range of 9,500-9,800.”

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that AEW Grand Slam 2023 saw the biggest day-of show ticket surge in AEW history. We have not confirmed that by cross-referencing all numbers, but it was a nice boost in ticket sales.

AEW did not discount ticket prices before Grand Slam. That being said, they did run BOGO ticket offer before the event, and we have not heard that stopped before the show. They also comped over 1,700 tickets for the big Arthur Ashe Stadium event.

AEW’s 2021 Grand Slam event, the first one the company held in the famous tennis stadium, drew 20,177 fans. Then AEW brought 13,800 fans to Arthur Ashe Stadium in 2022. Even if you go with the 11,263 number this year, there has been an obvious decline in sales.

Tony Khan has to be happy about how AEW Grand Slam turned out, and we are likely to hear a big flex from him soon enough about his company’s NYC performance. Only time will tell how 2024 turns out for them, but they are wrapping up 2023 with a few big crowds.
