Big W Toy Mania Sale 2020: Best deals on Lego, Barbie and Fisher Price

Publish date: 2024-06-03

The date of the Big W Toy Sale 2020 has been revealed – so mark your calendars.

This year, the annual event starts online on Tuesday, June 16, and then in store from Thursday, June 18 – running through to July 15.

A catalogue featuring details of all 700 products on offer at a discounted price has been released in stores and features a huge array of brands including Lego, Barbie and Fisher Price.

The famed midnight openings have been ditched this year for health and safety reasons following the coronavirus pandemic, and in its place is the sale online that begins two days earlier than in stores.

Shoppers will also be able to choose online lay-by for Christmas this year – a popular feature that was dropped in the past. There will also be contactless pick up and home delivery available.

“We’ve been working hard over the past year to get ready for Toy Mania 2020 and this is certainly going to be a sale like no other,” Christine Faulkner, BIG W’s chief toy buyer, said.

“We have everything families will love all under one roof and at all the lowest prices and this year we’re making shopping easier and safer for customers to shop.”

Parents have been chatting away about the sale on Facebook since details of it emerged, with many revealing they’re hoping to get the highly-sought after Lego sets.

Other items that are creating a buzz include the Vtech camera, $79, and Bluey books.

Not everyone has been impressed by the selection of goodies on offer, with many jumping on Big W Mums Facebook page to complain.

“There is not much good stuff this year,” commented one mum.

“OMG there’s like nothing my kids don’t already have,” another said.

“Can’t say I’m overly excited....... looks kinda boring,” someone else agreed.

Another mum described the offerings as “disappointing” while one said she thought last year’s sale had “so much more”.

Despite some feeling initially disappointed, many said they would be stocking up on toys at discount prices for Christmas.

Last year, crowds descended on various stores around Australia when doors opened at midnight, with people reporting parents were “running around like lunatics”.
