The following week the Braves optioned him to Gwinnett to make room on the roster spot in place of Aaron Blair, only to be called back the following day on August 30. When he played in the Majors of 2016 his record was 1-4 and an 4.86 ERA, and in the minor leagues of his team the Rome Braves and Gwinnett Braves the team was 3-3 and an 3.97 ERA in 13 games (ten starts).
Gant began 2018 with Memphis. He was recalled to St. Louis and optioned back to Memphis twice during the season before securing a spot in St. Louis’ starting rotation after an injury to Michael Wacha in mid-June. Gant finished the 2018 season with a 7-6 record and a 3.47 ERA 26 games (19 starts).
