Lupe Fiasco Stunts On Fan After They Call His New Single 'Ass'

Publish date: 2024-06-03

Lupe Fiasco seems to be in album mode once again, dropping off his second single of the month alongside a phrase many believe is the title of his next project.

On Friday (June 30), the Chicago-bred lyricist released the melodic and hi-hat-laden “Outside” with the tag: “All Proceeds To My Chain #APTMC.” A departure from his bar-heavy style, this cut features a noticeably limited vocabulary and thus has the crowd split.

Lupe announced the release of the song on social media and it has since generated quite a few negative reviews from fans. One Twitter user commented on Lupe’s post, writing: “this is ass, brother.”

Clearly unphased by the criticism, the 41-year-old wordsmith retweeted the remark with the following selfie:

In early June, the “Kick, Push” rapper decided to bless fans by playing a new song in the midst of a Twitter conversation. After tweeting about how an Apple update would get him in the studio, a fan responded by saying: “Long as we get more music.”

Lupe had the perfect reply – a retweet with a video of new material. Though he only previewed 30 seconds, the hard-hitting track includes a heavy violin presence and a catchy cadence.

A little over a week later, he dropped “Checkin.’” Though the two-and-a-half-minute joint isn’t the same song he previously teased on social media, it appears to be the first installment of a new album’s rollout.

All the signs currently point to Lupe working on new music, and as per his latest release, he seems to be flirting with a more pop-centered sound as opposed to his trademark academic style.

In another hilarious Twitter moment on Sunday (June 25), Lupe vented about Drake’s upper-echelon lifestyle. Quoting a tweet from a viral video about the Toronto native “dissing” ordinary people’s lives, the rapper noted that he even feels “guilty” about it.

“He makes me feel guilty for shit I didn’t even do and question the legitimacy of my ACTUAL responsibilities,” he joked.
